No road closures on IIT JEE Mains day on April 5 despite Pinkathon, say traffic police

Pune: The IIT Mains exam and Pinkathon, the 10km women’s marathon, both scheduled on April 5 in the Hadapsar area, have parents worried about facing traffic diversions on the exam morning. Allaying their fears, the traffic police clarified that no roads will be closed due to the marathon and that only one flank of internal roads will be cordoned off as needed between 6.30am and 9am.Inspector Sachin Jadhav from the traffic department said, “Parents will not face any issue while taking their children to the examination centre in Ramtekdi, Hadapsar. All main roads will be kept open. Only one flank of the internal roads will be cordoned off for the duration of the marathon to ensure the safety of the runners. There is generally less traffic in these areas on Sunday mornings, and even then, there will be a police presence to ensure there is no congestion.“The traffic police said the marathon route will start from the AFMC Athletic Ground and end at the same place by 9am.The route will begin at Gate No. 4 of AFMC, proceeding with a left turn onto Turf Club Road, followed by a right turn onto Wanowrie Road, then continuing via Staveley Road, taking a left onto Right Flank Road, moving along Kondhwa Road through Lullanagar, before taking a left onto the flyover, rejoining Wanowrie Road, and concluding at Gate No. 6 of the AFMC ground.Worried parents said it is better to share such details in advance through official platforms so that they are not caught off guard.“The reporting time at the Ramtekdi centre is 7am, and the marathon starts at 6.30am. So we were worried about the route. Now, we can plan better to avoid any unforeseen traffic situation,” said a parent from Baner-Pashan Link Road.
