New Delhi: A 33-year-old daily wage labourer, who went to clean a drain, was found dead after allegedly drowning in it in northeast Delhi’s Dilshad Garden on Monday afternoon.The deceased has been identified as Rahul, a resident of Sundar Nagar. Accordint to police, two daily wage workers were assigned to carry out desilting work in the drain.One of the workers told police that they were removing silt when Rahul allegedly slipped into the drain. Police said a search operation was launched immediately, and Rahul’s body was recovered from the drain after nearly an hour.A case has been registered under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) at Seemapuri police station. Further investigation to ascertain and verify the sequence of events leading to the incident is underway, police said.
