New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested three men and apprehended a minor in connection with a gang-related murder in Bawana, Outer Delhi, in which a rival gang member was shot dead earlier this month. The firing was reported on March 19 in Harewali village, when three men on a motorcycle opened fire, targeting 30-year-old Ravi Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj was killed on the spot, while his father, eight-year-old nephew and a neighbour suffered injuries.Special commissioner of police (law and order) Ravindra Yadav said multiple teams were formed to crack the case. Police analysed footage from around 650 CCTV cameras and tracked the suspects’ movements over nearly 2,000 km, conducting raids across several states.“One of the suspects, 21-year-old Aakash, was traced to Bihar and apprehended from Begusarai, where he was hiding,” Yadav said, adding that Aakash admitted during interrogation to being one of the shooters and claimed affiliation with the Tillu Tajpuria gang.DCP (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami said Aakash fired multiple rounds at Bhardwaj and others. “He met the co-accused at a birthday party before joining them for the attack,” he said.Preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of associates of Deepak Paksma and Himmat Chiku of the Tillu gang. Police later arrested 22-year-old Chetanya from Bawana, who allegedly provided detailed information about Bhardwaj’s residence and daily routine. He is accused of guiding the shooters to the victim’s house and sharing updates on Bhardwaj’s movements through social media, later deleting data to destroy evidence.Subsequently, police arrested 23-year-old Kunal and apprehended a minor from Rohini, who were also involved in the crime.According to police, Bhardwaj was associated with jailed gangster Deepak alias Titar of the Gogi gang. The murder is believed to be retaliation for the killing of gangster Tillu Tajpuria in Tihar Jail.
