New Delhi: A day after a nine-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in northeast Delhi’s Dayalpur, a seven-year-old girl was reportedly molested by a man in north Delhi’s Subzi Mandi on Monday morning. The accused was beaten up by public before being handed over to police. He has been arrested.Police got to know about the assault when the young survivor came to Subzi Mandi police station with her mother. The mother told the cops that her daughter was playing outside their home around 9.30am when the alleged molestation took place. The child immediately confided in her mother, who alerted her husband.A PCR call was made, and the the girl and her mother came to the police station to report the crime. A case was registered under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. “He was thrashed by public for the act. He was known to the girl,” an officer said. Police confirmed that the accused was arrested and in police custody. Further investigation into the matter is underway. This was not the first time that such an incident happened in the city. In May, two incidents of alleged sexual assault of minors were reported. A 35-year-old man was arrested in Dayalpur for the alleged sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl. In another incident, a 15-year-old girl in south Delhi was allegedly lured to the house of her neighbour, a schoolteacher, when she went out to buy a register and sexually assaulted.April saw two cases. A minor from Uttarakhand, visiting Delhi for a national-level sports event, was allegedly sexually assaulted and filmed by a group of boys at a water sports club in northwest Delhi while a five-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a van driver in north Delhi’s Burari.
