200 miss KDMC jobs exam, cite ‘traffic snarls’

Kalyan: Over 200 candidates are said to have missed the exam for recruitment for 498 posts in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) at a Powai centre on Wednesday allegedly due to traffic jams. Some claimed they were denied entry despite reporting on time. Many of them turned up at the KDMC headquarters and sought a re-exam. Shrutika Mahaskar, an aspirant, said the reporting time for the 1pm exam was set as 12.30pm. She claimed despite reaching at 12.30pm, she was not allowed entry. Another candidate, Ramesh Waghmare, said some took time-stamped photos as proof of on-time arrival. Vandana Gulve, deputy municipal commissioner, general administration, said all candidates were sent an email a day prior advising them to reach early. She said as a majority who registered for the Powai centre reached on time, no re-exam could be held. —Pradeep Gupta
