2 ashramshala students of class 9 and 10 commit suicide in Maharashtra’s Palghar

Palghar: Two students of classes 9 and 10 died by suicide at a government-run ashram school in Ambiste, Wada taluka. The deceased were identified as Devidas Parshuram Navle (Class 10, from Mokhada–Biwalpada) and Manoj Sitaram Vad (Class 9, from Dapti) in Palghar. According to reports, the boys used a clothes-drying rope to hang themselves inside the hostel premises.Officials, including the project officers, additional superintendent of police, and Palghar MP Hemant Savara (BJP) visited the site for inspection. While the reason behind the suicides remains unclear, parents and locals have strongly criticised the negligence of authorities, questioning the safety and supervision mechanisms in tribal residential schools across Palghar district.Father of Manoj said his son was studying in this ashramshala since class 1. We met him during the recent Ganeshotsav holidays when he had come home. This incident is very sudden and shocking. Cops said they have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are investigating further.
