NEW DELHI: A life convict who murdered his brother in 1999 and jumped bail around 2 months ago was arrested by Delhi Police from Gurgaon, Haryana.The accused, Bhim Mahto, was convicted in 2002 by a sessions court at Tis Hazari for the murder of his brother, Kishan Mahto, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was granted bail during the pendency of his appeal.However, after the Delhi High Court dismissed his appeal on Oct 30, he reportedly went underground, leading the court to issue a non-bailable warrant against him. He absconded since Nov 5.“A team from the Nabi Karim police station carried out surveillance of his native village in Bihar and tracked his movements across Delhi-NCR using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs,” said DCP (central) Nidhin Valsan.Acting on a tip-off, he was traced to Pooja Colony in Sukhrali Enclave, Sector 17, Gurugram. He was arrested during a late-night operation on Friday.The accused was taken into custody, police said.
